SKINS: Family drama and some other stuff!

It's been a few weeks since I watched the last episode of Skins, so I don't remember EXACTLY what happened.  There wasn't anything terribly exciting or ridiculous, otherwise I would have RECAPPED it sooner.  Oh well.  Here goes!

This was a Katie episode.  You will remember that she is one of the twins, but not the lesbian one.  Also, Effy tried to kill her last season.  So.  Katie is helping out at her mom's wedding planning business, but it's not going so well because the bride is like, a total bitch that she knows from school.  Then Katie goes to the doctor with her boyfriend (Katie has a boyfriend now, apparently!) because she thinks she's pregnant.  But she's not pregnant.  Oh good!  Hold on, though!  There's more news!  Turns out Katie can't have babies?  Oh no!  So that's pretty sad.  She breaks up with her boyfriend (five minute-relationships are very short, even for Skins!) and heads back to working the wedding planning grind, this time at a HEN PARTY.  

The bride, who's like a total bitch, starts making fun of Katie for being so poor and working class?  She doesn't look very poor.  Then the bride, who's pregnant BY THE WAY, starts swigging down the alcohol, and this makes Katie all mad but the bride is like "Yeah, I've got a baby in my belly, but I ain't care!  I'll just have another one if this one becomes deformed as a result of my excessive alcohol consumption during its most important and formative growth period!" (probably) and so Katie is like "OH FUCK YOOOOOOOU" and beats her up, like hardcore.  This is all very bad for business, of course, so Katie and her mom are fired and now her family has no form of income in this stressed economic time (you will remember, of course, that her dad lost his job).  WHOOPS.

Also, Effy was there, too, and she and Katie talked for the first time since Effy nearly killed her?  AWKWARD!

Katie goes to her house and attends a family meeting about how they are poor now.  But where's Emily?  HER TWIN?  Anyways, they're losing the house and DING DONG! it's the repo men.  Oh no!  Someone had better find Emily and tell her about this!  WHERE'S EMILY???  So, the whole family crowds into a van with their most necessary belongings and runs from the repo men.  But where will they go?  Naomi's house.  I'm sure Naomi would take in her girlfriend's entire family even though they have been very mean and homophobic to her in the past!  So they go to Naomi's HOUSE (all sixteen-year-olds have THEIR OWN HOUSES which they live in WITHOUT ANY PARENTS these days!  It's such a non-issue that this boring little fact was never addressed until now!) and OH WOW Emily is living there, too, it seems!  Of course.  

Naomi and Emily are not very welcoming to the Emily and Katie's family.  They have a raucous party in the backyard and Emily is on her most obnoxious and drug-fueled behavior, probably in the hopes that her FAMILY will leave her alooooone for once.  "Someone give me PILLS!  And COCAINE!  Any type of illegal and dangerous drug, really!" she shouts, for all her parents to hear.  And also she makes out with some random chick in front of Naomi?  Their relationship is at a rocky place right now.

Meanwhile, Katie is feeling really depressed about the baby thing, which is understandable.  She goes to the bathroom to cry or something, but Thomas is there, peeing.  Somehow they both get locked inside the bathroom and make out in the bathtub?  I'm sure there was a perfectly logical reason for why that would happen, I just don't remember the DETAILS! 

Some other things happen, Katie and Emily have a heart-to-heart, and I think Katie promises to stop being such a homophobe?  Then they go back to their (family's!) house and have a pizza party with the rest of the gang (the family gang!).  Things are good again!  Even though they don't have any furniture or money!

THOUGHTS:

• WHY ARE ALL OF THESE TEENAGERS LIVING ON THEIR OWN IN HOUSES, NICE HOUSES?  I don't understand!  Naomi lives in her own house and I don't remember anything being said about this!  She used to have a FAMILY!  I know this because Sophie from Peep Show was her mother.  What happened to her?  Where did she GO?  Did she leave Naomi the house?  Besides Naomi, some characters live on their own but not in houses as nice as that.  Cook, for instance, lives in the same college apartment as Chris once did, but just because he is estranged from his family.  Okay, that makes sense.  But WHY DOES NAOMI HAVE SUCH A NICE HOUSE?!?!  It's a great SKINS MYSTERY!!!
• In other Skins-related news, the trailer for the new MTV version of Skins is out and it looks REALLY FUCKING TERRIBLE.  Oh well.  At least we know MTV is sticking to its roots.  Its horrible, horrible roots.
